Well, contrary to what you would think since I saw six movies this week, I did get some redecorating done. It is true that painting is the poor man's room makeover--just like waxing your eyebrows is the poor woman's face lift. I subscribe to both philosophies heartily.
Here is our new Family Room. Yes. It is totally worthy of being capitalized. Before the makeover, we just referred to it as "the big room" because it's, um, well, big. Duh. Since it's been painted, though, I have moved my computer and sewing machine upstairs, thus making me hang out upstairs with the rest of the family thus the renaming of it to the Family Room.
Those who know me know that I could go weeks, nay, months without setting foot upstairs. Oh yeah. It was a child's free-for-all up here. Now? Now I love it. I spend all my time up here!
See how it has slanted ceilings? I bought blank canvases that I'm going to let the kids paint and then I'll hang them on those slanted parts. I'll post pictures of them when they are complete. Given my commitment to procrastination, I wouldn't hold your collective breath.
Here is my cozy corner where I put off finishing my burp rags, think about how I haven't started my nephew's blanket, and wonder what I'll blog about next. I need to paint my little table, but just add it to the list, people.
If you're sitting facing the computer, the wall to my right looks like this:
It is perfect for painting mod squares on it like these. I will use the colors (green, cream, dark brown) from the rug. Woot! I'm so excited. Again, don't hold your breath, I might get this done around Christmas time.
Here is Wild Thing's bedroom-in-progress. She has begged me for months to please paint her room. The flowers are just not big girl enough for her--and here I thought I was choosing something she could grow with. I have a teenager in a 5 1/2 year old's body. Oye. So here is a before picture (green) and an after picture (pink). Tomorrow I add the mod circles (yeah, I'm in a mod mood) to it a la Lizzie McGuire. The circles will be red, green, and cream and will pull the colors out of her bedspread and curtains.
Phew! This was a long one. Hope you made it through. Tomorrow I'll show you how we completely annihilated two telephones. I also hope to have pictures of the mod circles so we can count Wild Thing's bedroom as DONE.
