Book Meme
Thank goodness Shalee's looking out for me or ya'll wouldn't have a post to read today. The kiddos are at Grandma's today and will be spending the night at a friend's tonight. I'm giddy with the free time--and dinking it away as usual. I have NOTHING to show for it, people. So here's my meme. It's all about books. I love books! I really want to see what you have to say about books, so let me know if you post this on your site and I'll come look.
1. One book that changed your life: A Million Little Pieces by James Frey. I own it in hardback and read it waaaay before Oprah. I know the controversy and I understand it. I also know this book has a lot to say. It helped me reaffirm that we are all responsible for our decisions and the ensuing repercussions.
2. One book that you've read more than once: East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
3. One book you'd want on a desert island: East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
4. One book that made you laugh: I really can't think of one off the top of my head. I do know, though, that Jane Austin's sense of humor is subtle and killer. It's just one of the reasons I love her books.
5. One book that made you cry: I cry at movies. Books? Not so much. Unless a child dies. Then I'm undone. So I try not to read those books.
6. One book that you wish had been written: The Fabulousness of Me: The Life and Times of Chilihead because, really, who ISN'T interested in that?!?
7. One book you wish had never been written: There are a lot of really poorly written books out there and there are a lot of books with questionable (to me) subject matter. Do I wish they'd never been written? No. I cherish books. I don't buy the bad ones, but I cherish the fact they are available.
8. One book you are currently reading: I'm not reading anything right now. However, in the next few days I will be reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards for our September book club.
9.One book you've been meaning to read: I have a six-page list of books in Word to remind which books I want to read and haven't yet. Just one? Um...how about My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult? It sounds like it will have a ton of discussion points.
By the way, if you are looking for some suggestions on books look over on my left sidebar under Chili's Lists. I have a list of my favorite books.
